Alex Hutchison has joined the SSC team to oversee the multisport, high performance precinct with a continued focus on pathway development and all levels of competition and to lead the venue towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Having previously worked in venue management for 14 years, Mr Hutchison has extensive experience in managing venues, including the City of Gold Coast’s Pimpama Sports Hub, Maroondah Leisure and venues operated by the Belgravia Health and Leisure Group.

Mr Hutchison said he is excited to lead the SSC team in maintaining the complex’s reputation the home of high performance and community sport in Queensland.

“I’m thrilled to have joined the Stadiums Queensland team at a venue that plays such an important role in the development of current and future athletes in addition to the delivery of key sporting events for Queensland in Track Cycling, BMX, Aquatics and Arena Sports.

“We know that in the lead up to Brisbane 2032, Olympic hopefuls and athletes at the top of their game will be looking to develop their skills and train in Brisbane across a range of sporting disciplines, including swimming, diving, gymnastics, weightlifting and cycling,” Mr Hutchison said.

“We want SSC to be front of mind as the place to be for those athletes and their coaches.

“My aim is to ensure that our facilities cater to their needs and positively contribute to their journey on the road to the 2032 Olympics.

Sleeman Sports Complex is based at Chandler and hosts a range of facilities, including Anna Meares Velodrome, BMX Supercross Track, Brisbane Aquatic Centre, Geoff Henke Olympic Winter Training Centre, Chandler Arena, Outdoor Velodrome, Chandler Theatre, Queensland State Gymnastics Training Centre, Dry Land Diving facility and Pace Fitness gym.
